Time is a valuable commodity. We all need more time at some point in life. More time for family, for work, for sleep! Yet, for the things we're interested in, even passionate about, there is time. We at the Museum are passionate about sharing the past with our community and visitors.
As it takes a village to raise a child... it's been said; so too does the Museum need our "village" - those people interesting in history and its preservation - to continue.
We are in need of your time. Not much of it, but a bit. Consider putting "Museum time" in your monthly calendar. Docents serve at the Museum for a three hour shift, once a month. THREE HOURS to preserve history. That seems like a small investment to make for the future.
If a monthly commitment is more than you are looking for, perhaps a project oriented event would work for you. We are working on exhibits, inventory updates and research; each of which could involve the amount of time that works with your life.
Please consider one of the following as a contribution to keeping the Museum open and available to people wishing to learn about local history. Some projects are:
Quarterly newsletter - writing and layout
Membership - keep yearly record of dues paid
Social Media - be our champion on social media, spreading the word on our events
Advertising - writing ads, producing flyers, etc.
Treasurer - collecting monies and delivering to bookkeeper
Website - maintenance
Inventory - ongoing record keeping of files and artifacts
So much more!
Board meetings are the first Thursday of each month, 6 pm at the Museum. You are invited to attend and see what the Museum will offer you in return for your time.
